Complete Staff Directory

EXHIBITION INQUIRIES? The Boston Athenæum will consider exhibition proposals submitted by professional curators or museum staff only. Any other unsolicited exhibition proposals will not be considered. Unsolicited material will not be returned to the sender. The Boston Athenæum does not organize or host solo exhibitions of the work of living artists.

FINE ART QUERIES? The curators who care for the Boston Athenaeum’s collection of paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts will answer basic questions about objects in the institution’s art collection. However, the staff does not perform biographical research on artists or conduct research on objects that are not in the Athenæum’s collection. Most documentation and research files concerning objects in the collection are available for inspection by serious researchers, graduate students, curators, scholars, and members of the Athenaeum by appointment only. For information about the collections or to make an appointment, please contact: John Buchtel, Curator of Rare Books and Head of Special Collections.
